Baaaa-Num... Baaaa-Num... (Think Jaws)

Yesterday was get settled in day. We needed it. We did take a little time to enjoy the pool. Don't worry that's not a shark.  It's batman in his swim gear.

I'm not gonna lie...

When we first pulled off the turnpike and onto our street Daniel and I had a little bit of a panic. We were in what might be considered an up-and-coming area... With our building being the only completed example of up and coming. But, our building is very nice. As you can see from the pictures below, we are not roughing it.  It's very nice and feels safe.

(You can always tell Elijah is happy when he strikes that pose. Joe didn't have time for pics he was eating breakfast. Daniel is showing my favorite thing in this apartment. The lobby always had fresh coffee... Always!!)

We are also close to a train station that will (someday) take us right to NYC. I'm sorta itching to go but Daniel and the boys need a break from our Bemiss Family days if fun... So, it looks like it might be next week before that train takes us to the city. Which is just as well because if I don't work on the final read through of Rise and Shine this weekend it will not be ready in time.
Love & Miss you all!  Don't forget to email us too so we know what's going on with you back home. :)

America, America

Whew.
That's pretty much all I have to say.
We. Are. Exhausted.
It was a great day!  Here is a photo journal of the day!

The rest of the pics are on Daniel's phone; so, I'll post them on our drive to New Jersey tomorrow. :-) love you all!

Oh...
These made me think of my books.

A couple for the road.

We are up and at it early this morning on the way to DC. So, why not share a few more pics for the road.

Can you spy our first president? We spoke to him on the street! If this trip does nothing else... It's made Elijah love learning about the revolutionary war. His last words to us before bed were about how and why the gun powder was stolen from Williamsburg. I also the way he thinks of everyone as we travel.

Caroline would like to dress like that girl.
That dish looks like Grammy's.
Can we come back here and bring Caleb so he can be a minute man with me?
Mamaw would like to meet George Washington.

These are just a handful of things be said. :-)

Last night we were lucky enough to eat it a tavern. It was ridiculously expensive and we almost canceled the reservations but I am so glad we didn't. The boys loved it. See that man playing guitar, well he sang to us. It may have been Joe's favorite thing. (Well, other than the door.) My phone isn't letting me post the video but its pretty sweet.
80 miles to DC! :-)

You say you want a revolution day 2.

Lots of fun in Williamsburg. Here is a snapshot of the boys favorites... So far anyway. Most of these pics were from the Powell House. It is one of the few original buildings on property.

Joe and Elijah were helping to make potato cakes in this pic.

Then Daniel & Elijah were put in time out for being grouchy. ;)

Jonah's favorite part of Williamsburg...

Figuring out how to close this door. The revolutionary folks had it firmly secured to stay open but Jo wanted no part of that business. Give him liberty or he gives you a tantrum.

Last but not least, my little minute men.

(The shadow pic above is of Elijah.)

You say you want a revolution...

We love history.
I feel like Daniel and I are taking our boys on a wonderful field trip to learn about the Revolutionary War and subsequent historical period. So refreshing!

Here's the highlights...

Elijah made breakfast.

We all enjoyed it. Then we traveled down the road to T. J.'s home.

Some pics from the outside and grounds. (No pics from the inside allowed)

A lot of the house makes me think of happy memories at my Nana and Grand-daddy's house in Smith's Grove. Thick brick walls, cellars, exterior kitchens, etc... Elijah loved all of the inventions. My little scientist figured out the mechanics of the cannon ball clock before I did.

Although, I thought it was interesting that they said Jefferson wasn't an inventor but a first adopter. They also had the kids predict what Thomas Jefferson's home might have looked like today! I loved that question. Elijah said he would have had computers and a kindle/nook. :-)

Here are a few more pics.

How about some fun?

(Elijah "helps" Joe get a drink.)

Being president is hard. We are tired. More tomorrow.

We are headed north.

Well, we are headed north. It's our long drive day. Praying for safe travels and happy passengers. Here are a few snapshots from the road.

Choppy's on her way to Grammy & Poppy's.

She was smiling... She loves her vacations.

Goodbye kisses.

We are packed full!

Joe was not a fan of the movie Elijah put in and has counted to 3 (about 100 times) and done every animal sound he knows.  Elijah on the other hand is sucked into his super friends DVD.

Curled up in my new blanket Mamaw made.

West Virginia. I was a little bored and the kids were sleeping. So, I made this. :-)

Peaceful scenery.
Beautiful drive.
In awe of God's wonders.

On the Road Again.

Okay.  First off let me say, I know.  It's been a long time since a blogged on either of my blogs.  I didn't quit.  Just a breather.  I thought the Pretty Fine Day blog would be a good way to keep up with family and friends while we are away.  So, feel free to check in here every few days and see what's happening in our journey north.  Love you guys!

We are starting our trip with some history fun this week!  Next week Jonah will begin Occupational Therapy Camp.

Here is a link to the camp the Joe will attend.
