The Hubs Used the Crock Pot... Baby Back Ribs

First off, thanks to my brother and sister-in-law for another great Crock Pot idea.  Ribs in the crock pot? Yes, please.  It it couldn't be easier.  Daniel went to the grocery with me yesterday and we walked past the ribs.  He suggested we try it.  It was the first time in my life I have ever bought ribs or any bone in meat.  Actually, its probably only about the 10th time in my life I've eaten them.  Before I married Daniel I was definitely a bread, pasta, and chicken kind of girl.  He's a red meat and potato kind of guy.  So you can imagine how we have run into trouble over the years in the kitchen.  This was going to be another of those opportunities to learn from each other.  We came to an agreement that we would buy the ribs if Daniel would help cook them in the Crock Pot.  This is his first crocking experience and my first rib experience, awww.....  Young love.    Well, maybe not so young.

Here's what you need:
Baby Back Ribs (Ours was a little over a pound)
Seasoning Salt
1 Bottle of Your Favorite BBQ Sauce
**Plus enough extra sauce to cover the ribs when they come out of the slow cooker, if you like them extra saucy...which we do.

Cut the ribs so they fit in your slow cooker.  We had to cut ours in half because we have a pretty wide Crock Pot but you may have to cook yours into fourths.

Cover both slabs of ribs with seasoning salt.

Pour an entire bottle of BBQ over the ribs.  Don't forget to pour in between the layers of ribs.

Set the slow cooker on low for about 8 hours, or until meat is cooked through.  About half way through the cooking process I spooned some of the juice from the bottom of the pan back on top of the ribs but this probably isn't necessary.  I mainly wanted an excuse to take a peek.  Because sometimes looking through that glass dome just isn't enough.  Why did I need an excuse you may wonder?  Because I had just given Daniel a speech on why you do not open a Crock Pot lid when its cooking.

Here the hubs is taking them out.  This is sort of hard to do because they actually fall of the bone. They are so tender.

We put a little extra sauce on top.

Aww.  Here he is admiring his hard work.  Look at that smirk of pride.

This little guy tried the ribs but was not a fan because he was grossed out by the bone.  See, I really never buy bone in meat. I tried and tried to reason with him that they were delicious but that was to no avail. So, he made a peanut butter sandwich.  Which he said was yummy. He really wanted me to share his sandwich on this blog, so I am.  :)

  1. That peanut butter jar reminds me of Jenny!! That was often her choice and can still be found in her lunchbox on many days.
